Dutch
Etymology
Potentially attested as beegedem in 1202, attested with certainty as bekede in 1264. Etymology nl 1. Perhaps related to nl boog bend, riverbend with the dative plural form of a collectivising suffix nl odt *-iþi. Erroneously interpreted as a compound of an uncertain first element and nl heem home, settlement. Compare nl Beugen and nl Beugt.
