Etymology
From lb gmh lebse, from lb goh lefso, from lb gmw-pro *lep, from lb gem-pro *lepaz. The consonantism -ps may be a simple phonetic simplification, or a blend with the northern form of the same root that led to de Lippe. The dialectal border between both forms runs close to Luxembourg. Cognate with de Lefze (and de Lippe).
