German
de:Krampe (Verbindungselement)
Etymology
de :inh<conj:and> gmh:krampe :der nds:krampe<ety:inh<gml:krampe<ety:inh<osx:krampo<ety:inh<gmw-pro:*krampō<ety:inh<gem-pro:*krampô>>>>>>>>
Standardized since the 17th century. From Central and de nds - dialects, from northern de gmh - and de gml krampe f, from de goh crampo, de osx krampo m, from de gmw-pro *krampō, from de gem-pro *krampô.
Cognate with southern goh crampho. Remarkably, modern descendants of the latter, such as bar Krampen m bent prong, pickaxe, also have p instead of pf. This might be due to influence by gmh krump (modern de krumm).
