Etymology
First attested as thuuina in 838. Likely derived from nl odt thufina hillock. There are indications that the original meaning of the name was forgotten fairly quickly, as is evidenced by an inhabitant being called de Columba ("of the Pigeons", with the original name being confused for nl duiven pigeons) in a text from 1297. Compare nl Duiveland, nl Duivendijke, nl Duivendrecht and nl Duivenvoorde.
