Etymology
osc.
Possibly from a doubling of itc-pro *-ios *-ijos, creating itc-pro *-ijijo-, which later evolved into itc-pro *-ījo- by contraction following the regular phonological loss of the first intervocalic itc-pro *-j-, whereas the second glide was preserved analogically after osc -𐌉𐌔. Eventually, the form itc-pro *-ījo- then perhaps shifted into osc -ịjo-.202
Possibly from the samprasarana of itc-pro *-ijos to osc -iis akin to the development of itc-pro *-jos to osc -𐌉𐌔.
