Schüssel
German
Etymology
Probably cognate to de Schusser clacker, bullet; wound, as if de Schuss shot -el 1, literally one who is shot, amorous de verschossen have a crush; miss a shot. Maybe related to de schudeln, compare de hudeln. Older dictionaries gloss this specifically feminine, mismatching the supposed derivation which requires neuter gender, matching Ripuarian neuter inflection on females and the pronunciation of e.g. puzzle.
