Etymology
In both cases originally the name of the beck gml Dalbeke from gml dāl dale, valley bēke beck, brook 1, in the later Bielefeld case also contracted de Dalke, which is still employed as a potamonym before discharge to the west of it, already 1003 in Medieval Latin la-med Delhna (variant reading mul Dellina) and 1031 la-med Delchana, now mapped as de Dalbkebach running through de Schloß Holte and de Lipperreihe of de Oerlinghausen, then transferred to a manor (de Meierei, de Gut), the surrounding population of which distinguished itself within the municipality de Senne II particularly after a paper-mill sustained it from 1835.
