Etymology
Mostly from dialectal Polish pl stegna trail, path.
The name of the village in Pomeranian Voivodeship is a post-World War II re-Polonization of pl de Steegen, presumably from pl gmw-pro *stigā steep path or road; stairway, whence de Stiege. It is not clear whether the Polish name is a purely phonetic reanalysis or a reference to pl stegna.+ 12–13 16
