Etymology
Ultimately from en sjw saawanwa Shawnee or sjw saawanoki southerners, a hypothetical intermediary term is sometimes supposed to have facilitated the entry into English, such as umu sawanow. Likely a re-analysis of en Shawnese as the plural en Shawnees.
