Dutch
Etymology
First attested as duestervoert in 1357. Compound of nl duister dark, murky and nl voorde ford. Although the first element has been interpreted as being etymologically related to nl dum does mossy fen, overgrown swamp, it is more likely that the toponym derives from the murky water of the ford. Compare nl Lichtenvoorde.
