Dutch
Etymology
First attested as castert wert in 1294. Likely derived from nl dum *caster type of tree, potentially chestnut with collectivising suffix -t. As no traces of Roman settlement have been found near the hamlet, a link to la castra encampment is unlikely. Compare nl Castelré, nl Castenray, nl Casteren and nl Kasteren.
