Attested since at least the 1770sThe Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records 0806316969, 2002) has a record of a Margaery marrying a Mr Eliada Parker in 1770 as a variant of en Margery, from en Margaret. Popularized in the modern era by the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.
