Etymology
Apparently a wordplay pl de Walddeutsche Forest Germans 1. The Polish word pl Niemcy Germans comes from a word meaning "mute ones; ones who cannot speak (a Slavic language)", so in calquing the German word de Walddeutsche Forest Germans, the Poles used pl głuchy deaf rather than pl głusz wood to create a compound meaning "deaf-mutes".
