Moksha
Pronunciation
mdf
Etymology 1
The objective template V verb stem + IO object indicator + IT temporal indicator + IS subject indicator with all the slots filled in is expected to yield a Common-Mordvinic *kunda-s-aj2-zə (using mdf кундамс as an example) "he/she/it caught him/her/it." In Erzya this produced myv кундызе kundy-ze and in Moksha, mdf кундазе. Both via intermediary *kundajzə. In conclusion: this suffix is of subject marking origin.196

Etymology 2
The Erzya counterpart myv -м traces back to urj-pro *-mV. The Moksha counterpart is an anomaly. Based on the dialectal form -nze, it is possible that this suffix represents fusion of *-m (or mdf -н) and mdf ся that.55
There is variation in the dative form of this suffix, compare mdf кудозти (Poljakov) and mdf прязенди (Golenkov), Poljakov also gives mdf кудозенди.
