Etymology
Inherited from odt frk ᛒᛟᛋᛟ Bōso, from odt gmw-pro *Bōsō, from odt gem-pro *Bōsô. Further etymology not completely certain, but likely related to gmw-pro *bannan to proclaim, grc φᾰ́ος light and sa भास् light bhā́s, all from the root of odt ine-pro *bʰeh₂- to shine, to appear, meaning that this name might have meant 'bright' or 'glimmering'. The name also appears in other Germanic languages, including goh Buoso and earlier goh ᛒᛟᛋᛟ Boso, ang Bōsa and non Bósi.
