The district court in Brüx, acting as the court of appeals, has sentenced the chief editor of the Brüx “Nationale Zeitung”, Edmund Pummer, for using the designation of “Jew slave” – to a four-day detention. The suit was based on the following circumstance: In a note in “Nationale Zeitung”, Social Democratic innkeeper Peter Leskowar of Neusattl had been called a “Jew slave” and this designation had been substantiated with the fact that the Social Democrats during the last Imperial Council (Austria) Imperial Council elections had acted in the interests of the Jews.
