tte
Finnish
Etymology
From fi urj-fin-pro *-kta (< urj-fin-pro *-k-ta), from *-k (marker for the present tense) + *-ta (from fi urj-pro -). Form influenced by fi te, the second-person plural personal pronoun. In the past tense, there was originally -i- in place of -k- (*-ita, found in some Ostrobothnian dialects as fi -ja, e.g. fi ottija for standard fi otitte), but the present suffix has been generalized to all tenses and moods.
