From nds gml dingesdach dingesdach, dinsdach, probably from nds osx *thingesdag, from nds gem-pro *þingą *þingas-dagaz day of the assembly, from gem-pro *þingą + gem-pro *dagaz. la Thingsus, ang Tiw or non Týr was the name of the nds gem - god of justice. Cognate to de Dienstag, nl dinsdag.
