Pronunciation
Etymology 1
From ko okm - -이〮여〮 -í-yé, from ko oko 亦 *-ye, oko 也 *-ye.
Note that there is no Old or Middle Korean evidence that the first syllable is supposed to be the copula ko -이다; the honorific form ko -이시여, which would suggest such an origin, is first attested only in the twentieth century.ko:'이여'와 '이시여'의 문법적 지위와 차이 The grammatical status and differences of -iye and -isiye ko:이성우 2016 Gugeohak 77 167—197
