Etymology
From gmw-cfr gmh pāschen, originally a plural form, from gmw-cfr la pascha. This word spread in the earlier Middle Ages from the diocese of Cologne to Dutch (compare nl Pasen) and nds - (compare Westphalian nds Paosken). In Central Franconian itself it soon came under pressure from the descendants of goh ōstarūn, which are otherwise general in High German.
