Borrowed from mul grc αἰγοθήλης nightjar goat-milker, from grc 1 αἴξ goat θηλή nipple, teat -ης agent-noun suffix. Compare Caprimulgus genus, from la caprimulgus goat-milker, nightjar, itself a calque of grc αἰγοθήλης; and el αιγοθήλας nightjar.
