Etymology
From de pl Polak a Polish person.
Pronunciation
de /poˈlakə/ /ˈpɔlakə/
de De-Polacke.ogg <<Germany>> (<<Berlin>>)
Noun
m.weak in
de derogatory sometimes ethnic slur Pole, Polack person from Poland, male or unspecified sex
Usage notes
The form with stress on the second syllable (rhyming with de Kanacke) is much more derogatory than that with initial stress. The latter is regional, however. It is particularly common in the Ruhrgebiet, where it is a coarse but hardly offensive word for a person of Polish descent (de Ruhrpole).
