Etymology
fi Mei- lahti bay bay; from the byname/nickname of Meil-Bengt Jakobsson, who owned a farm called sv Mejlans in the area. sv Mejlans remains the Swedish name for the neighborhood today. The byname/nickname may be in reference to sv Meilby, a village around what is now Seutula. The sv Meil- part may be an anthroponym (fi gml Meile).
