Etymology
Attested as Oudelant in 1573. Derived from nl heer lord, nl Oudeland a surname and nl ambacht type of fiefdom. Named after Pieter Oudeland, a nobleman from Dordrecht who was one of the financiers of the land reclamation project which created the land the former fiefdom stood on and the current neighbourhood stands on.
