From de akro- tip, end, beginning -onym name. First attested in the early 1900s.Stilz Gerhard Studien zur englischen Philologie 21 Niemeyer. 1905 The term was modelled after de Homonym and de Synonym, and the parts are ultimately derived from de grc ἄκρον end, extremity and grc ὄνυμα name.
