Etymology
Alteration of nl Lelystad by replacing nl Lely- with nl lelijk ugly, therefore equivalent to nl lelijk stad. Lelystad is a planned city founded in 1967 and was thus built chiefly in the styles of the 1960s and 70s (e.g. brutalism), which tend to be counted among the less favoured decades in modern architecture.
