German
Etymology
de nds-de nds
Initially North and West German variation of de Bummel, from de bummeln in the original sense of "to dangle". The permeation of the alternative vocalism across most of the language area was perhaps motivated by distinction from the re-derivation of de Bummel (lazy) stroll from the modern sense of the verb, forming a doublet.
