Usage notes
In German, one generally says: de Er sitzt auf dem Baum He’s sitting on the tree, and accordingly: de Sie klettert auf den Baum She’s climbing onto the tree. The construction with de in (as in English) is not entirely impossible, but it is rare. There is a chance that it may be misunderstood as “inside a hollow tree trunk”.
