Etymology
From another variant fi loima of dialectal fi lotma lowlying wetland, through earlier fi *loẟma (originally in the name of the nearby river, now called fi Loimijoki). The long vowel is probably by analogy with fi maa or by haplology from fi *Loimamaa (fi 1 lotma loima- maa) or fi *Loimimaa (fi 1 lotma loimi- maa).
