Czech
Etymology
cs Perhaps a derivation of cs sedlo n saddle noun or cs sedlat to saddle verb + cs -oň: cf. cs Sedlák (from cs sedlák, literally “farmer”, synchronically from cs sedlo -ák 1) and cs Sedláček (from cs sedláček, diminutive of cs sedlák); the word for “saddler” is cs sedlář. Alternatively, perhaps a derivation of cs sedlina f dregs noun or (more likely) of its etymon, cs sedlý adjective; cf. en Lees, a habitational surname from en lees sediment that settles during fermentation of beverages. Cf. cs Bartoň, cs Duchoň, cs Kofroň, cs Radoň, and cs Štědroň.
