Etymology
From de gmh hornunc, from de goh hornung bastard (viz.); one of Charlemagne's proposed names for reformed calendar months with limited success, according to Einhard.
The apparent semantic connection has been postulated to February being the "odd one out" amongst months (shortest and changing dates), hence the "bastard month".
Compare pdc Hanning, ang hornungsunu bastard, frk - frp hōrnig hōrni(n)g.
