Luxembourgish
Etymology
From lb gmh kelde, from lb goh chaldī, goh *kaldī, northern variant of goh chaltī, from lb gmw-pro *kaldī.
The expected Luxembourgish form is lb *Käll (which is attested in neighbouring dialects of gmw-cfr -). The alveolar stop was probably preserved (or added) due to analogy with nouns derived with the suffix gem-pro *-iþō, such as lb Stëllt from lb stëll. Hence, lb Keelt is analysable as lb kal -t. The vowel was lengthened by analogy with the adjective. Cognate with de Kälte, nl kou.
