Perhaps a 1 la xve - source, which itself may have inherited the word from la ine-pro *plówis f flow, from ine-pro 1 *plew- *plowós flowing *-is, the former of which derives from ine-pro 1 *plew- *-ós. If this theory were accepted, it would provide additional evidence for a Venetic sound change of ine-pro *owV > ine-pro *awV, for which see also la Dravus and xve 𐌇𐌏𐌔𐌕𐌉𐌇𐌀𐌅𐌏𐌔.
