Etymology
Adjective cs svatý holy refers to the fact that the local church was a famous place of traditional pilgrimages. Noun cs kopeček little hill, which is a diminutive of cs kopec hill, refers to its location on a low hill.
Originally two similar names were used for the settlement: cs Svatá Hora Holy Mountain and Svatý Kopeček, the latter one prevailing since the end of the 19 century to distinguish it from another pilgrimage place Svatá Hora near Příbram.Hosák, Ladislav; Šrámek, Rudolf (1970). "Kopeček Svatý". Místní jména na Moravě a ve Slezsku, vol. I. Praha: Československá akademie věd. Page 423.
