Welsh
Etymology
From cy wlm Cynan, from cy owl Cinan. Generally derived from cy cel-pro *Kunagnos, from a diminutive diminutive form of cy cel-pro *kū *kū, *kunos dog, but the expected reflex of this would be **Cynaen. It is likely that the Old Welsh form has been influenced by sga Conán, also a diminutive of cel-pro *kū.Sims-Williams, Patrick.
