Etymology
ms ar عِيد الْفِطْر. The initial [a] may have arisen through the reinterpretation of the Arabic pharyngeal consonant [ʕ], often realized as the approximant [ʕ̞], as a pharyngeal approximant–vowel sequence [ʕɑ] (compare ms ra'ayat and ms ma'alum, dated forms of ms rakyat and ms maklum).
