Alternative forms
vep -tme variant of the suffix in words ending with -t in partitive
vep -tmet
vep -dmö/-tmö, vep -dmöt/-tmöt archaic and/or dialectal
Etymology
From earlier vep -dmöt, -dmö, from merging vep -d (partitive suffix) + vep möto (posposition), which in turn derives from vep urj-fin-pro *möötä.
Suffix
vep suffix
Case suffix used to form the prolative case; along (something)
Usage notes
Takes the form -tme if the word in partitive ends with -t, e.g.:
vep tehut, vezi, käzi (in partitive vep tehut, vet, kät) > vep tehutme, vetme, kätme
When several words in the sentence require the case, -me is appended to the last one (though in folklore text and formal speech all words can take it):
Mänen levedadme tehutme = Mänen levedad tehutme — "I'm going along the wide road"
