Alternative forms
en I am thirsty
Phrase
phr
en usually I need something to drink (e.g., water).
en more generally I need something, or want something a lot.
en euphemistic I want an alcoholic beverage.
Usage notes
Although this normally implies that you would like something to drink, it can be used in a more general sense to imply that you need or really want anything very important, as in "I am thirsty for money". Using "I am thirsty for a drink" is redundant (tautological) unless "drink" is being used to mean "alcoholic drink".
