bütz
Central Franconian
Etymology
gmw-cfr Onomatopoeic; compare southern German de Bussi kiss and similar forms in many languages. But possibly based on, or conflated with, a derivative of gem-pro *bautaną to push. A second sense “push” is attested for some Central Franconian dialects. It may even be the older one if nl botsen collide is borrowed from it (as supposed in some of the literature).
