Dutch
Etymology
First attested as caffstert in 1316. Compound of nl hoog high, upper and nl kalverstaart calf's tail. The toponym is either a perjorative designation for a piece of land with an irregular shape or refers to a former inn. The element nl hoog was added at a later date to distinguish the settlement from nl Laag-Caestert.
