Finnish
Etymology
fi, from eastern Finland (mostly specifically North Karelia), but containing the suffix fi inen. Compare fi Kolehmainen. If the form fi Solomain found in some old records is closer to the original form (which could be something like fi Solomainen, fi Solohmainen, both of which are also attested, but only rarely), the current form could represent influence from fi Kolehmainen. In this case, a connection with the name Solomon could be proposed (compare ru Соломонов).
