Etymology
(Lingewaard) First attested as apud tornacum towards the end of the 11th century. Etymology nl 1. Potentially a relic from a pre-Germanic nl qfa-sub - language. It is unlikely that the toponym is derived from Doornik in Belgium or from a nl cel - 1 word with an -acum suffix. Compare nl Indoornik.
