Etymology
From the initial part of fi sv Kajaneborg, which is of the same origin as in sv Kajanaland Kainuu, probably from fi ru каяний, ru каянский (compare ru Каянская земля Kvenland?), in turn somehow from or akin to fi Kainuu (see it for more). First attested as sv Caijane Socken (with sv socken) in 1650.
