English
Etymology
en gkm Παυλικιανός, from grc Παῦλος + grc -ικός + grc -ιανός, originally most likely in reference to Paul the Apostle, who was held in special esteem by the group. Byzantine heresiologists conventionally traced the term to Paul of Samosata, however, and a link to a Paulician figure known as Paul the Armenian has also been proposed.2022 Carl Dixon The Paulicians: Heresy, Persecution and Warfare on the Byzantine Frontier, c.750–880 Koninklijke Brill 9789004516540 3–4
