Dutch
Etymology
First attested as de kaekert in the 14th century. Potentially derived from nl kakert clucker, screecher (here referring to a cockerell). A proposed derivation from a compound of odt Kakko a personal name and nl rode land cleared of trees is unlikely due to the use of an article in the oldest attestations of the toponym. Compare nl Kekerdom.
