Etymology
From en arc 𐡌𐡍𐡃𐡏 manda knowledge + en -ism (from en grc -ισμός).
Although Mandaeism is the most widespread spelling in English, it is a hypercorrection. The expected derivation through el Μανδαϊσμός and la Mandaismus is en Mandaism (compare with en Judaism, from grc Ἰουδαϊσμός, or with en archaism, from grc ἀρχαϊσμός).
