Ukrainian
Etymology
uk deverbal :inh sla-pro:*-tъ<id:deverbal> + From uk ine-bsl-pro *-tas; the suffix continues both uk ine-pro *-tós and ine-pro *-tus.
For the participle use, compare gem-pro *-þaz and la -tus. However the verb classes that take *-þaz in Proto-Germanic (so-called “weak verbs”) take sla-pro *-nъ -ний in Proto-Slavic, which is cognate with gem-pro *-naz, which in turn usually forms participles of verbs that take sla-pro *-tъ in Proto-Slavic.
