Of pt 1 origin; possibly from a pt ber source like pt zen ägənwi black person or pt shi agnaw mute; stutterer i.e. “those who don't speak our language” (compare the similarly constructed sla term sla-pro *němьcь foreigner not-speak, as in pl Niemiec German).
