thumb|I have had unprotected sex with 300 women Wanlov the Kubolor (born September 8, 1980) is a Ghanaian-Romanian musician and film director. Quotes I couldn’t live in the States because of immigration issues. I love music. When I was growing up, my father was a collector and my mother was surrounded by music. It is hard to get distributors and hard to get all the kind of money required to market and advertise your music and therefore, it is hard to sell as much as one could. I sell music hand-hand. I also sell on iTunes. They are just warehouses, because distributors do not store the music but move around to distribute to shops who sell. Even the Nigerians have come into the country and overtaken us. They are even marketing their products here more efficiently than we are. we have no excuse, you know, because we are now connected to the internet, and we have telephones and so on. We could use these technologies to promote our music. I think the problem again is because we don’t believe in ourselves. When investors come to Ghana for  business, they would also want to have emotional connection with the country, and there is no better way than Ghanaian music. You hear Jamaica and reggae music comes to mind. You see some Ghanaians wearing a dress that looks American but might have been produced in China. We don’t patronize Ghanaian fashion products and that is affecting the growth of Ghanaian fashion and textile industries. Kubolor: I could have been a computer scientist or administrator June 15 2019 My infancy is a blur.  I was born in Ploiesti, Romania early 80’s and before I was one, we moved to Ghana. By the time I was five or six years old, my parents separated and my mother being an immigrant, kept us. We moved around a lot because she was renting and moving around because rent was going up or whatever. So my infancy was a lot of moving around, every two to three years, we changed neighbourhood. So little Legon, Dansoman, Mile Seven, Zoti Clinic, Dome St. Johns, Taifa, Asylum Down. It was a lot of moving around. I wasn’t changing schools all the time. I only changed school once. I remember they tried to get admission for me in Christ the King but I don’t know why I was giving opposite answers to all the questions for the entrance examinations. You know how my mind works. I was in North Ridge but then I got kicked out of North Ridge by the time I was in class five. Because in class four, I fought with Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings. She is my cousin, so nothing happened to me apart from just being transferred. I think it was nothing because those times, if you messed with the Rawlings’ family you would be tagged on a sign board in Teshie. Yes. How many people can eat thirty in a day? I can eat thirty in an hour. And I like basketball, I actually play basketball sometimes for charity events. I like soccer too, more for the fact that it works my body out, but I don’t enjoy it, as much as I enjoy basketball. I’d like to say Gyedu Blay Ambollay is a mentor. Panji – Blay is like a primordial force. He is very, I don’t know if you’ve ever seen or heard of this legend. I don’t know who it belongs to but on the continent are huge giant tortoises that civilization rests upon. I just see him as this huge force of nature. Very magnanimous. Yes, but you can see in his music, very good energy in his music. I see myself like a “tri-genre”. I am doing three things, Gospel Porn with M3nsah, and by myself , I am doing what I call, Afro-Gypsy Music and also just rap, I feature on people’s songs. I don’t dwell on one thing at a time. Every time I have three to five things I am doing. Right now, I am editing videos for some artists, I am writing scripts for some films, I am learning how to play guitar, I am writing songs as well so if I have a setback, it is just on one thing out of the things I am doing, so the other things keep me going till I am re-inspired or rejuvenated to take on other things. I don’t have any unique style of living. Yes, maybe just with dressing but me wearing a wrap skirt happened when I was just doing my laundry. All my clothes were dirty and I wrapped a cloth around me and I just felt like that was how I was going to dress from then on. It just happened by chance. And now I am used to it. It is round and hairy I hope so. But that is also Obour’s stomach. Maybe you can say that it is about to give birth to creativity. I was playing with my brother when we were children and I threw cement and it went into his eyes Apart from Nkrumah, none has been able to impress me. Just because all of them had no vision. Time of Inspiration with Wanlov the Kubolor January 7 2016 It is the common sense that our ancestors applied - they dressed that way before the Europeans came. They were dressing like that because of the weather. I wear a wrap to protect my rear and my genitals to make me comfortable if I sit down. I don’t need shoes and I have walked barefooted for a year now and also I don’t feel the ground heat anymore. Even if I am walking in town and I feel hot I remove my shirt. I just dress according to the weather. The album is about documenting my life in the United States and also shows the States through my eyes. I call the album “GreenCard” because when I was in the States, friends and family wanted me to get married and get a green card and I didn’t do that. Wanlov came first. When I walk around Los Angeles, people see me and think I am a Rastafarian so they say to me “One Love” and I started using the name and also because I noticed that anytime an artiste walks on stage to perform, he says one love to the crowd before he starts performing. Kubolor came about when I was performing one day for Gyedublay Ambolley at a Ghanaian concert in Los Angeles. Some Ghanaians who were in the crowd listened to my lyrics and they started saying hey you are a “Kubolor”. WANLOV THE KUBOLOR April 3 2009 I know they would be more than 300 but not up to 500. I believe I have had sex with about 300 of them - both young and old. One was as young as 17 but she does not look it. Sometimes they are as old as 49 or 50. I have heard about HIV but I do not think about it just like I always walk bare footed and I do not think of the possibility of something piercing or cutting my feet. For me, I don’t believe in the concept of marriage. I am not moved by external pressure where I have to hold a ceremony in the presence of some people to prove a bond between my wife and I. I don’t see such things as important. I know the child we have together is more powerful than ring, marriage, customs and all that. My focus is how to cater for my wife and child in a responsible way. My criteria for a woman who will carry my baby is someone who has a good heart and loves people. I select the women who I want to give birth for me. None was by accident. I am not a role model. I am a musician. I am a ‘kubolor’ and I have not asked anyone to make me a role model. I just do what I like. "I have had unprotected sex with 300 women – Wanlov the Kubolor" (November 20 2012) External links Category:1980 births Category:Living people Category:Musicians from Ghana
