Babar: The Movie is a 1989 traditionally animated film made by Canada's Nelvana Limited and France's Ellipse Programmé, and distributed by New Line Cinema. It is based on the characters of Jean de Brunhoff's eponymous children's books, and was a follow-up to the first season of the TV series.
Dialogue
Rataxes: [having just arrived before his army soldiers, Rataxes sits beside a table] The time has come to play our hand. The army's ready, now here's the plan. [draws his knife and holds it over a map] At dawn we march on the Elephant Land! [laughing wickedly]
Young Babar: [watching on a ledge overhead with Celeste] No!
Rataxes: By night, we'll reach the city wall. By morning, we shall rule them all!
[Rataxes slams his dagger into the map]
Cornelius: [Babar, Cornelius, Pompadour and Troubadour see Rataxes and his army outside the gate] My tusks!
Rhino Guards: [launches fireballs from their catapults] Fire! Fire!
Cornelius: Just look at them all!
Rhino Guards: [launches two more fireballs from catapults] FIRE!!!
[Babar, Cornelius, Pompadour and Troubadour duck as a fireball flies over them]
Cornelius: Now, that wasn't the least bit friendly.
Rataxes: All right, elephants! [Babar peeps down at Rataxes] You can make this easy for us or hard for yourselves!
Pompadour: [pops up beside Babar] What does he mean?
Rataxes: Surrender completely or be wiped off the map!
Pompadour: Oh.
Rataxes: You've got one hour to decide!
Rataxes: [sees fireworks explode behind Elephantland's gate] What's he trying to pull? [A loud horn sound causes some of the rhino soldiers on their ladders to topple over] It's a trick, I tell you!
[the rhino soldiers back away fearfully at the sound of stomping and the loud horn blows, making them scream and cover their ears]
Rhino Soldier: I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE!!!
[the rhino soldiers ran off in fright]
Rataxes: Stop, you fools! It'’s only a trick! They'’ll never-- [gapes at the approaching elephant float as it towers over him] --beat us?
[Arthur blows the horn again as elephants hold the ropes under the elephant float]
An Elephant: You've got it!
Rataxes: [to his fleeing soldiers] No, no, no! It's a trick, I tell you!
[Arthur blows the float's horn]
Rataxes: [grabs a fleeing soldier and holds him over his head] GET BACK IN THERE AND FIGHT, YOU COWARDS!
[Rataxes tosses the soldier, but he gets knocked down by the others. As the rhinos ran, they hear a loud elephant trumpeting, and a herd of the enslaved elephants charge out of the jungle towards them. The rhinos scream and ran in another direction. Some of the rhinos ran into the lake, and see Croc and his friends staring at them]
Croc: Guess who?
[the rhinos scream and swam away]
Rataxes: [after his army fled in fear after being scared by the elephant float, the enslaved elephants and Babar's crocodile friends] COWARDS!!! I'll crush those elephants even if I had to do it myself!
Young Celeste: [after Rataxes fled in fright] Babar! Babar, you did it! [hugs Babar] We won!
Zephir: Yahoo!
Young Arthur: Hurray for us!
Cornelius: Well done, my boy!
Pompadour: Oh, your Majesty! You were postively brilliant! A truly glorious victory!
Cornelius: Our hats are off to you. Uh-- oh! [Cornelius doffs his hat]
Madame: We're all very proud of both of you.
Zephir: Hey, I risked my life and limb out there too, you know! [Celeste kisses him] Ahhh!
[Zephir collapses in a lovestruck state]
Pompadour: [in distress] Oh no!
Young Babar: What?
Young Celeste: What is it?
Pompadour: It'’s our annual parade! The committee couldn't agree on the name for it!
Cornelius: Now, now, calm yourself, Pompadour. I'm sure our king will think of something.
Babar: [narrating] And so, that afternoon, in celebration of our victory over the rhinos, we held our very first victory parade.
